What's included in Accountancy Apprenticeship (AAT)

The AAT QCF qualification is broken down into threelevels:
Level 2 Certificate
Level 3 Diploma
Level 4 Diploma

Level 2 Certificate
The first level of the qualification is predominantly for peoplewith limited accounts knowledge or those working in a limitedfinancial role.

The QCF Level 2 Certificate covers:
• Double entry to initial trial balance stage and includes salesand purchase ledger preparation and payment
• An introduction to management accounting including costing andbatch control.
• Computerized accounting

 

 

Please note all government funded apprentices must study the'Professional Ethics in Accounting and Finance' unit from Level 3.This must be studied at Level 2, in order to satisfy theapprenticeship requirements.


Level 3 Diploma
This level is predominantly for people with a progressive accountsjob role or with previous study specific to accounting. If youbegin studying for your AAT qualification from Level 3, yourcurrent knowledge will be enhanced with a bookkeeping course priorto beginning the main level of study.

The AAT QCF Level 3 Diploma covers:

• The preparation of information required to prepare a final set ofaccounts.
• Further progression into management accounting with analysis andreporting of current and future costs.
• VAT returns, professional ethics and spreadsheets.

Level 4 Diploma
The final level of the qualification is predominantly for peoplewho have previously completed the Level 3 stage of thequalification or who have an accounts related degree. On completionof the Level 4 Diploma, you will be able to apply for fullmembership to the AAT, the qualification is also designed toprepare you for progression  to further professionalqualifications.

The AAT - QCF Level 4 Diploma covers:
• Management accounting identifying: measures used to controlcosts, planning and budgetary control.
• The preparation of a management report requiring the analysis ofan accounting environment.
• Optional units can include preparation of personal and businesstaxation computations, internal and external auditing processes andthe management of cash and credit
