2011 Kaplan Accountancy Scholarship in Yorkshire

I realise it’s been quite a while since I updated my blog so I thought (without going into too much detail about every event since my last blog) I would mention the 2011 Kaplan Accountancy Scholarship for the Yorkshire region.

The Scholarship process for Yorkshire is well underway with the first stage telephone interviews being carried out at the moment.  I realise that telephone interviews (indeed, any interview) can be a nerve-racking experience so I decided to provide each candidate with the questions that I would ask them on the telephone interview.  They will not have this privilege at the interview panel stage. 

This might seem like I’m making the first stage of this process too easy, however I feel that every candidate will have had a few days notice to prepare and they will have no excuse to provide substandard responses.  I decided on questions that would allow me to delve into the motivations of why each candidate wants to become an accountant and, more importantly, why they should win the scholarship.  This process will greatly assist me in shortlisting the candidates.

The successful candidates will be told by the end of this week if they have been successful at making it to the next (and final) stage; the interview panel stage!  While this may sound like a tough process which is something similar to a TV talent show, I want to remind every candidate that it will not be too daunting.  I also want to remind all the candidates who have applied to truly enjoy the experience.  It’s fun and you will be learning different skills such as interviewing throughout.
