Kaplan Apprenticeships

Progress your career in business and accountancy

Brian Culleton

BAB-ble (Brian's Apprenticeship Blog)

Welcome to my first blog!

As with all first blogs, it’s necessary to provide background information relating to me (a boring topic!) and, more importantly, the exciting content of my future blogs. My future instalments will highlight AAT Apprenticeship success stories in Yorkshire and occasionally will provide information relating to CV tips, finding a job and interview techniques.

I started in Kaplan Financial in Leeds as an Apprenticeship Coordinator in January 2010. Having worked for six years in a ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm, I have seen students (both school-leavers and graduates) study AAT and move up through the ranks.

I have seen first-hand how studying AAT provides an amazing grounding in accountancy and can offer fantastic career opportunities. As with all career-enhancing training, there is a significant cost involved. You will be delighted to know that Kaplan has accessed government funding to train students aged between 16-24 years old. This funding can help students achieve their AAT qualification through an AAT Apprenticeship.

Obviously, there are certain criteria in place to qualify for the AAT Apprenticeship and its funding. These criteria can be found in more detail on this website. If you require any assistance or further information on the AAT Apprenticeship, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0113 243 7435 or brian.culleton@kaplan.co.uk I am also available to discuss our Business Administration or Customer Services Apprenticeships.

My next blogs promise to be much more exciting, I promise! It will also include information relating to the Kaplan Summer School.

Log in again next week!

AAT is sometimes suitable for a graduate if they have not done an accountancy/business degree. It might help people find their feet in the basics of accountancy and help them decide if it's for them! If they have done an accountancy degree they may find it the AAT covers a lot of the topics from their degree course.

Hi Brian

Do many graduates do AAT before going on to another qualification?
