Hull and Grimsby Scholarship for 2011

Hello Everyone,

We  had 28 applications from the local schools and Colleges for our 2011 Scholarship. We narrowed this down again this year with a top 5 for both Hull and Grimsby.

In Hull we had good support from employers which included Dutton Moore, Ideal Standard and Smailes Goldie for the interview panel. After a good set of interviews Christopher Hopkins from Wyke College won the 2011 Scholarship for Hull and has already had a succesful interview with a local chartered accountants.

Later that week I was at a Careers event at Wyke College and the news had spread fast with the Principal offering his congratulations and a que of year 12 students looking to win it next year after they have been through summer school.

In Grimsby the employers panel sat on the 30th March from Forrester Boyd, RNS, Duncan & Toplis and Youngs Seafood. The standard of all the candidates was very high and the winner was Emma Close from Franklin College in Grimsby.

I am hopeful that we will end up with the majority of all of the scholarship applicants into jobs this year.
