Summer has arrived - and what am I doing?

Yet again apologies for a lonnnnnnng delay since last blog - May and the start of June are really busy times when you are a tutor at Kaplan as many of the various exams that students do are held around this time so we are teaching lots of revision courses.

Hopefully you are all looking forward to a good rest after your exams, whether you have been doing A levels, AS levels, GCSEs or end of year exams, I hope you have exicting plans for the summer - inlcuding attending a Kaplan Summer School near you!

Now that teaching has calmed down a little, we get chance to focus on some other parts of our jobs. This week I have been involved in our quarterly re-budgeting exercise that we do at Kaplan - a chance to be a real life accountant again for a few days.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending our scholar's day at the AAT. You will have been reading about and may have been a part of this process over the last few months and last week all of our 2010 scholars had the chance to attend an awards ceremony at the AAT with their parents, where they received certificates and awards, as well as hearing a few speeches, including one from Richard Gadd our first ever scholar. What a great day of celebration for these young people and hopefully one of excitement too as they learned a bit more about their future careers as accountants.

Over the summer many of the tutors at Kaplan will be busy preparing for the next term of courses. Even those of us who have "been around a while" need to spend some time going over our material as syllabuses change and the focus of examiners may have altered since last time. We will all be finding a week or teo to take some time off as well and I wish you all a really fun summer. Until next time...
