Professional Services (Tax & Audit) Apprentices work in a highly-skilled accountancy and tax specialism’s providing support to businesses helping them to develop and grow. You could expect to be earning between £15,000 to £19,000 once you’ve qualified and most Professional Services Apprentices will move on to complete a Chartered Accountancy qualification (ICAEW/CTA) which means your future average earnings will be considerably high.

What are the entry requirements?

First of all you need to have a good business brain and excellent communication skills. You also need to be aged between 16-24 and have at least 5 GCSEs (A-C, including Maths and English). Some companies will also require you to have A-levels (160-260 UCAS points).

 

What can I expect from a Professional Services Apprenticeship?

As well as earning a weekly wage (normally between £120 to £250 per week), you’ll be entitled to paid holidays and gain experience of working in a real life office environment.

You will complete a professional qualification as part of the scheme (ATT or CFAB) and will also be awarded a Diploma in Tax/Audit Practice proving you have developed and demonstrated a variety of key business and commercial skills.

The type of roles you’ll be doing include assisting in the conduct of audit such as testing controls and drafting reports, assisting with the preparation of tax returns, dealing with tax related communication.

What happens after I’ve completed my Apprenticeship?

Once you’ve completed your Apprenticeship, you’ll be a qualified Professional Services Apprentice. With the experience and skills you have gained, you will be a highly valued member of your firm’s workforce and more likely to get promoted from within the company. You will also most likely have the chance to complete a further Chartered Accountancy Qualification (CTA/ICAEW). This will raise your future earnings considerably and improve your career prospects – you could be a future Partner in an Accountancy Practice or CEO of a FTSE listed business!
